PokéMail: Welcome to Chaos Rising 🌙

Hi girlies 💌

Pokémon dropped a whole new Mega Evolution set on us and we are not okay. Mega Floette ex is wreaking havoc in Lumiose City under a starlit sky, Mega Greninja ex is squaring up across from her, and the whole thing is officially called Chaos Rising. Pull up, we have notes.

What is Pokémon TCG Chaos Rising?

Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising is the next worldwide Pokémon TCG expansion and the fourth set in the Mega Evolution era. It launches May 22, 2026 in physical form, with a digital release inside Pokémon TCG Live the day before on May 21. The set has over 120 cards, more than 20 Trainer cards, and 35+ cards with special illustration treatments, including five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex.

The pack artworks are illustrated by akagi, who has done some of the dreamiest Pokémon covers in recent memory. If you have followed the Mega era at all, you already know the art direction has been consistently gorgeous, and Chaos Rising is leaning into that even harder.

When does Chaos Rising come out?

May 22, 2026 worldwide for physical packs and boxes. May 21, 2026 inside Pokémon TCG Live for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. Mark your calendars.

Which Pokémon are in Chaos Rising?

Five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex anchor the set. The four officially announced so far are:

  • Mega Greninja ex: fan favorite ninja frog, finally getting its long-awaited Mega card after a decade of patient waiting from Greninja girlies
  • Mega Pyroar ex: fierce fire lion energy, golden mane forever
  • Mega Dragalge ex: a deeply weird-cute pick that aesthetic collectors are going to obsess over
  • Mega Floette ex: fairy flower, dreamy, soft, going feral in Lumiose City (more on her below 🩷)

There are also five regular Pokémon ex, 11 illustration rare Pokémon, 18 ultra rare cards, and six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards. Plenty to chase across rarity tiers.

Why Mega Floette ex is the one to watch ✨

Hear us out. The central narrative of this set is Mega Floette wreaking havoc as night falls in Lumiose City. A fairy flower Pokémon. Going chaos mode. Under a Lumiose sky. We are obsessed with this energy and we think you will be too.

Floette is already one of the gentlest, prettiest Pokémon in the entire dex. Soft pinks and blues, holding a tiny flower like she is protecting a secret. The Mega evolution lets all of that softness break loose. If the special illustration rare follows recent Mega era treatments like Mega Dream ex and Mega Munikis Nihil Zero, expect watercolor light, floral motifs spilling outside the regular card frame, and a color palette that lives somewhere between dusk and starlight.

This is the kind of card we want to find in everyone's binder. A reminder that cute and powerful are not opposites.

When is Chaos Rising coming to Korea?

This is the question we keep getting from the Korean booster box girlies (hi babes 🩷), so we will be honest with you: there is no confirmed Korean release date yet. Based on past Mega Evolution era timing, where Mega Brave, Mega Dream ex, and Mega Munikis Nihil Zero all landed in Korea roughly 1 to 3 months after their Japanese release, expect Korean Chaos Rising sometime in late summer or early fall 2026.

When it drops, you will know the second we have it. In the meantime, the closest art-vibe match in our shop is the Mega Dream ex Korean booster box, which shares the same dreamy Mega era treatment.

Should you buy a box?

If you collect for art, yes. The 35+ special illustration cards are the whole point, and the Mega Floette and Mega Greninja artworks alone justify it. If you collect for play, the Mega Lucario ex League Battle Deck (more below) is the cheaper way in.

If you collect for resale or grading, watch the chase cards in the first two weeks for early grading service population reports before committing. Mega era boxes have generally held value, but every set has its own market path.

What else releases alongside Chaos Rising?

Two companion products drop with the main expansion:

  • Pokémon TCG: Mega Lucario ex League Battle Deck: a pre-built deck featuring Mega Lucario ex, ready to play out of the box
  • Pokémon TCG: Mega Zygarde ex Premium Collection: collector box featuring Mega Zygarde ex

If you have been following the Mega era, you already know Mega Zygarde ex is a big swing. The Pokémon Center will almost certainly sell out of the Premium Collection quickly. Set a phone reminder for 9 AM ET on May 22.

What's next after Chaos Rising

Chaos Rising is the fourth set in the Mega Evolution era. Looking ahead, the next set, Mega Evolution: Pitch Black, drops July 17, 2026, so the era keeps moving. Plenty more Mega chaos coming.

If you have never opened a Mega era box before, our PokéMail for the girlies post covers the basics of why we love this era. And if you want to know what makes Korean booster boxes feel different from English ones, our Mega Munikis Nihil Zero deep-dive is the place to start.

Until next time. Stay soft, pull weird 🫧
